Nice to meet you!

Hi! If you haven’t guessed already, my name is Walter Morsanutto, and if you’re curious to learn a bit more about me, you’re in the right place. I’m a 20-year-old bachelor’s degree student in Economics and Finance at the University of Bologna.

My interest in the world of finance began at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. With all that unexpected free time, I dove deep into the subject and became really passionate about it. Over the years, I’ve bounced around different areas of finance but finally settled on personal finance, aiming to become a financial advisor in the future. I put a lot of emphasis on thorough research before making any personal finance decisions, striving to be as scientific as possible at every step of the decision-making process. That said, I believe economics isn’t an exact science, leaving plenty of room for approximations and intuition.

So why did I decide to create this website?

Well, to be honest, I think it’s pretty neat to have a platform where I can share my thoughts. I don’t really expect anyone to actually read what I post, but if you are, then welcome! Another reason is that I want to improve my English, especially my writing skills, and this seems like the perfect exercise. Writing helps me consolidate concepts and encourages me to dig into the subjects I want to write about. Publishing my work also helps me actually finish most of the projects I start and make them a bit more polished.

But you might be wondering, why not just use a platform like Substack or Medium?

It’s a good question. In the last decade, creating a personal blog or website has become less common, with more blogs moving to centralized platforms. However, I believe the customization and freedom offered by a personal website are well worth it. Plus, I wanted to challenge myself to create a simple website from scratch.
